These fishing boats are a primary source of income for many San Clemente families.

Sabor de Bamboo - COLD Beer, Good Food!

Color and Soul - this is the spirit of Ecuador!

The beer at German Myier's is always cold. On this day we learned that a mix of beer and 7Up is called a shandy. And it is supposed to be pretty good. I will probably never know. The food is very good and quite inexpensive.

Our friend and transport "Teddy Roosevelt"

We love to take Teddy for a ride on the beach. There is always something different to see. Nothing is more permanent or more changing than the ocean.

A boat just north of San Clemente gets a little maintenance

Fishing boats require their own kind of magic. Some have eyes, some have saints, some have angels painted on their prows. I am partial to eyes.

Looking north from San Clemente towards Bahia

The Spanish sea wall is over 400 years old.

I love to stop at this point and explore the numerous tidal pools that form here at low tide.

More of the old sea wall

Here you can be alone with only the wind and the surf to keep you company. You can forget that there is anyone else on earth.

Now doesn't that stir your curiosity?

There is something about stone ruins that always make me a little dreamy and wistful. here you feel very small against the measures of time and sea.

A labyrinth left by the ocean begs to be traced with your fingers. Beauty comes in many forms.

The day was a bit chilly and overcast for a while. the weather changes quickly but seldom turns violent.

The view from Bahia de Caraque back toward San Clemente

Shortly after we arrived in Bahia the route we had come by was no longer assessible due to the incoming tide.

Love your photos! The fishing boat took me back to our last trip to Ecuador when we visited San Clemente

This looks like fun. Is there a tour?

Johnny, there are a number of tours that operate out of Bahia. But so much doesn´t really require a tour.

Thanks for the photos - I have never been to Ecuador and they are a big help in visualizing what it looks like! Anyone know any Spanish teachers in the area that might be available in July?

We used stay at Cocobongo in Bahia, now we live in Bahia. Suzi at Cocobongo can arrange for Spanish lessons as can any other hotel you choose. We just liked Cocobongo because of the expats that frequent there and the fact that she is Australian and thus skeaks ENGLISH!!
